Time is the path of heaven

By: Claudia Elizabeth Orozco Galindo

We come to this world because we have a mission, and we spend our life trying to accomplish it. During “The best years of our life” we can make great physical efforts and resist many adversities, we have the vitality to overcome whatever comes. But, who says those are the best years of our life?

I honestly think, that the best moments of our lives are those where we are closer to Jesus. During our lives we get close to Him in different circumstances, normally when we suffer or when we are in pain, because in happy moments we do not need to invite Him, He is there! (Although it is always good to be humble, be grateful and invite Him to enjoy our good moments).

I read a book by Victor García Hoz that opened me a wider view to understand how God gets close to us in different stages of our life. García Hoz made me understand why in the so called “Elderly”, senses, strength, vitality and energy of the human body decline drastically. When we are young we pay very much attention to everything that goes on around us, our senses are acute and we get distracted with everything. During Elderly, the senses and the body have declined radically, for one reason: because we stop being distracted with other things to focus in what really matters: Jesús.

That is why during “Elderly”, our working life and personal activities change and decrease. That time that we longed so much for in our youth, is given to us twice as much during elderly. There is no better way to spend the time God gives us than praying, talking to God and getting closer to Church!

It is so good to be in this stage of life! God gives us lots of gifts and love through family, friends and time to pray… life itself. We always must have hope in Jesus, in this way we will be given patience and resignation, and we will be happy.[1]

To conclude I would like to share with you a phrase that moved my soul to tears, not before widely recommending you to read the book “Alegría en la Tercera Edad” by Victor García Hoz.

“Think that it is Me who governs the world. And that only Me is absolutely Wise, Strong and Friend. I know what is good for you and I can do what is good for you. What could happen then that is not good for you? Everything will be fine”. [2]

God bless you all!
