• Get a general medical exam: a check up that reveals your general health state and see if it is necessary to take some measures before being ready to get pregnant.

• Stop smoking: smoking not only provokes cancer and lung emphysema, that means that it not only harms your health, but also affects feminine fertility. Your husband should also stop smoking, because tobacco decreases the spermatic count reducing the possibilities of pregnancy.

• Have a balanced diet: it is important to consume a diet rich in vitamin B12, found in meat, fish, eggs and milk. But above all, it is very important to consume folic acid, researches show that a woman with a good level of folic acid before pregnancy and during the first month reduces the probability of malformations in the baby spine and brain, it also reduces possibilities of leporine lip and favors the process of cells division. Folic acid is found in some fruits, vegetables and grains but the truth is that it is very difficult that a woman consumes the necessary daily requirements, so it would be a good idea to get a folic acid dietary supplement, your doctor can prescribe one that is good for your health.

• Learn to identify your fertile days: when a person has used natural methods he/she knows perfectly well what days are better to get pregnant. If it is not your case you can learn in a very simple way detecting those days when you feel wet, try to detect a transparent mucus like the white of the egg in your underwear. The day that kind of mucus is more abundant will be the best day to get pregnant. On the other hand it would be better if you have not had sexual relations at least two days before because your husband’s spermatic count will be higher and both fertility conditions will be at a good level to get pregnant more easily

• Pray: maybe you think we write this because this is a Catholic site, it is not for that reason, we ask you to pray not only because it helps to our relationship with God and that is good in every moment of our life, but because God is the creator and owner of life; and only He knows when to give it.
