Blessed Luigi Beltrame Quattrocchi & Maria Corsini “A holy marriage”
Mary was a music teacher, writer and a great music lover. She worked for several associations, some of them: Women’s Catholic Action and the Scouts. Luigi was a brilliant lawyer and he became a vice-lawyer for the Italian Government.
They met in Rome and Luigi fell in love with Mary discovering a great number of qualities in her. After a certain time of courtship they got married in November 1905 in Saint Mary’s Basilica. Marriage for them was a path that led them to a mutual growth and knowledge of Christ.
Luigi and Mary lived convinced of Christ love, being both compelled Catholics and coherent with their religion. They had four children and thanks to the loving education and orientation of their parents three of them discovered their vocation in consecrated life. In Luigi´s and Mary’s house there was a prayer and apostolate environment, giving, in this way, testimony of gospel.
Luigi and Mary are a clear example that within a married and family life, it is possible to go through the sanctity way and live fidelity to Christ.
“Among the joys and worries of a normal family, they knew how to have an extraordinary rich existence in spirituality” (John Paul II).
