St. Julian the Hospitalarian “The man who killed his parents”

The beginning of the noble Julian maybe dates back to the IV century, his story reminds us of St. Eustaquian´s legend: a young man that was hunting a deer and was questioned by the animal: How do you dare to chase after me if you have killed your parents? After this encounter, Julian, fearing that such prophecy would come true, ran away as far as he could from his parents.

He got married and he has a happy life with his wife when, one day, while he was not at home, two pilgrims appeared. They told the wife that they were Julian’s parents who had been looking for his son for years; the woman lodged them and offered them the bed where she slept with Julian. When he came back he found a men and a women in his bed and killed them thinking it was his wife who was sleeping with her lover; only after the crime he realized that he had killed his parents.

In order to make amends for his crime, Julian devoted his life, together with his wife, to assist pilgrims. Years went by and one night he helped a leper: the leper was Jesus, Who had forgiven his sin.
