Do you want to know what changes occur in men during puberty?
Maybe you are going through a lot of changes and you may wonder: When does puberty start? What are male secondary sexual characters? What are wet dreams? Is it normal what is happening to me?
We are going to answer your questions!
a) When does puberty start?
Puberty for men usually starts at the age of 12-14. Such change occurs when testicles start to produce testosterone (the masculine hormone).
b) What are the secondary sexual characters?
This hormone: Testosterone is responsible for the appearance of secondary sexual characters, which are:
• Growth acceleration and weigh increase,
• Genital and muscle size increase,
• Pubic, arm pit, face, legs, arms, hair appear,
• Size increase of the larynx and lower tone of the voice.
c) What are wet dreams?
It is a normal phenomenon that occurs during men development, it constitutes the external evidence of the beginning of production and liberation of semen. It is called so because it occurs while you are asleep and it is involuntary. It is also known as “nocturnal” (emission of semen), because there is a small stain on your underwear.
The average age for the first wet dream is 13-14, but it varies in a very wide range since it can occur from 10 to 16. First ejaculations are only emissions of semen, there are still no spermatozoids. Later on, spermatogenia will be completed, that means, mature spermatozoids will be produced and, if necessary, they will go outside accompanied by genital plasma.
All these changes are completely normal. As it happens with any change, it is difficult to get used to it, but as soon as you familiarize with such changes, you will realize that all this allows you to grow and develop as a better person.
