The Smile

One boy decided to go out and meet God. He expected the journey to be long so in his backpack he put some guarana (soda) and some bagels.
On his way he saw an old man sitting in a bench at the park and decided to rest a little and have a bagel.
When he took the bagel out he noticed that the old man was hungry and offered him one. The man accepted it with a smile, a really warm smile.
The boy smiled at him too, he was so happy. He wanted to see that smile again and so he offered some guarana to the man. The man gave him the most beautiful smile the boy had ever seen. And so they spent the whole afternoon like this. They were quiet, didn’t talk: just had bagels with guarana and smiled at each other.
When evening came the boy knew he had to go home or his mom would be worried, so he and the old man hugged and smiled at one another.
When the boy arrived home his mother asked: Son, where have you been that you look so happy? I have never seen you this happy before.
And the boy answered: oh mom, I just spent the afternoon with God. We ate bagels and drank guarana.
When the old man arrived home his son asked him the same: dad, where have you been that you look so happy? I haven’t seen you smile in such a long time!
And the old man said: oh my son, I just had the most wonderful afternoon: with God! And you know what? He is a lot younger than I had imagined!
So, as you can see, we can be God’s instruments in the lives of others!
